The skeleton of a burial "vampire" man from the 16th century has been unearthed and exhibited in a museum.
Experts identified this man as being buried with the ritual of a "vampire".
The skeleton is believed to be a vampire discovered in Poland.
This skeleton was discovered two years ago in an ancient cemetery in Kamien Pomorski town, northern Poland. According to experts, this is what remains of a man. Currently, the skeleton has been announced and became the main attraction at Kamien History Museum. Organizers are preparing an exhibition dedicated to vampires.
The body was found with a stake closed through the leg and a small stone in the mouth. Vampire experts say the stone has been placed in the body's mouth to prevent this person from biting or sucking on other people's blood. The tibia and femoral bones were pierced with iron sticks to prevent vampires from climbing out of the grave.
Slawomir Gorka, the leader of the search team, found the skeleton in a cemetery next to the town's church, explaining that the man could have been buried in the 16th century. The coffin, making it difficult to determine the exact date this man died.
The vampire remains are on display at the Kamien History Museum.
A number of similar "vampire" tombs were discovered in Poland, showing that such graves are popular in the Kamien Pomorski area in the 13th to 17th centuries.
It is believed that people considered "bad" can turn into vampires after death, unless they are pierced through the chest before being buried. These people are usually intellectuals, aristocrats or clergy.
