According to the Times, French scientist Thomas Cucchi works for Durham University (UK) and discovered a new species of rat in the island of Cyprus while studying the teeth of stone rocks.

The newly discovered rat was named Mus Cypriacus. It has larger heads, ears and eyes than the known rat so far. Genetic analyzes confirm that this is a strange mouse.

According to researcher Cucchi, the rat Mus Cypriacus was present in Cyprus before humans came to the Mediterranean island.
