The 14,000-year-old village is found on a cape of Triquet Island, about 500km northwest of Victoria. The research team said the village is older than the pyramid in Egypt , Independent on April 8 reported.

Excavated objects include tools such as fire, hook and spears from the Ice Age, helping to portray a picture of North American civilization, according to CTV Vancouver Island News.

Alisha Gauvreau, an anthropologist at Victoria University and a researcher at the Hakai Institute, is a member of the excavation team."I remember when we were done dating, we sat there and thought god, this place was old. This discovery changed our notion of how people first appeared in North America." , Gauvreau shared.

Experts believe that a large influx of immigrants arrived in coastal British Columbia. But the findings also coincide with word of mouth about Heiltsuk Nation, the nation that symbolizes British Columbia.
