Starinieri and the restorer group carefully shaved away the plaster, they saw a radiant, glowing face thanks to the mother of pearls. When they saw the first gold-encrusted bricks emitting a radiance, they were deeply moved.

Beneath the plaster is a portrait of a 2.4 meter tall angel, lost for centuries. This is the seventh angel in the angelic mosaic of the Christmas church ceiling built nearly 1,700 years ago.

At Jerusalem's request Almaric I and Palaeologus emperor reigned in Eastern Rome, mosaic paintings were made of glass bricks, nacre shells and indigenous stones, then encrusted with gold, silver and a layer of clear glass. all the way up.

The discovery of the seventh angel was an unexpected reward after years of efforts to rescue the church at the risk of degradation by the experts. Due to lack of maintenance, priceless mosaic paintings of the church were covered with dust, soot or destroyed by rainwater from the dilapidated roof. The incredible thing is that mosaic still shines after thousands of years.
