Disney's 'stunt' robot, making a flying pose is no different from a real person

The robotics research program at Disney has been making impressive leaps and bounds with robots capable of performing adventurous scenes like real people.

A recent video recording of the Stuntronics robot performing aerobatics in the air recently really surprised many of the creative capabilities of the Disney Research department. The appearance of the Stuntronics robot was impressive not long after Disney introduced the Stickman robot with a rudimentary shape but an interesting acrobatic ability.

The Stuntronics robot can even resemble superheroes when flying in the air.

According to Independent, both models are the result of Disney Research and Development. This department was founded about ten years ago with the mission of discovering virtual reality, robots and other emerging technologies.

Stickman robot is the first step towards creating a human-like robot model, capable of tumbling and performing dangerous action. The potential of this robot is very large, especially in stunting movies or becoming the focal point of attraction at Disneyland shows.

Similar to the previous Sitckman robot, the Stuntronics robot uses accelerometers, gyroscopes and laser strips to perform dangerous acrobatics. The video also shows that the Stuntronics robot can even resemble superheroes when flying in the air.

Disney has not yet revealed when it will commercialize this robot model. However, it will definitely need to upgrade and improve it in the near future before being eligible for public demonstration.
