Don't be surprised because the ASMR phenomenon is completely beneficial both physically and mentally

Feeling relaxed, excited or even as if electric current is running from the brain to the spine, it is just one of the small effects and benefits of ASMR phenomenon in the human body.

According to Futurism, ASMR happens when you watch and listen to videos with a soft whisper. Many describe the feeling of watching ASMR videos as if there is an electric current moving from the top of the head and spreading to the spine.

If you are the one who can sense it, you are indeed a lucky person because according to a recent study by British scientists, the phenomenon of ASMR actually brings the mental and physical health benefits of person.

ASMR (Autonomous sensory meridian response) translates as "independent sensory orgasmic reaction". In it, the word "orgasm" here is interpreted as a very special kind of climax.

Although so far, scientists have not been able to find the main cause of ASMR. But interestingly, they found the benefits of ASMR in reducing stress and helping people physically and mentally become healthier.

Recently, a group of researchers from the Department of Psychology, University of Sheffield, England, published an unexpected study of ASMR phenomenon. This is one of the first studies to explore the impact of ASMR on human health. The work has been published in the recent PLOS One magazine.

Previously, the famous neurologist Dr. Steve Novella, who had a deep research on ASMR, said that this phenomenon could be triggered from a special partition in the brain. In addition, many people believe that ASMR video is like a miracle remedy to cure diseases such as depression, anxiety, sleep disorder, .

Two studies and one final conclusion

To understand the ASMR's actual mechanism of action, the authors divided the study into two parts.

In the first study, they asked for more than 1,000 people to describe their personal feelings after watching videos that stimulated the ASMR phenomenon on YouTube. Among the participants, there were about 813 cases of ASMR sensation. They describe feeling calmer and more calm than others.

In particular, the volunteers were very relaxed, not stressed during the experiment.

With the second study, the authors only asked about 110 volunteers. About half of them confirmed the feeling of ASMR. However, in this study, the team connected volunteers with a series of sensors and electrodes to measure their physiological responses when watching clips that stimulate the ASMR sensation.

One of the forms of ASMR sensory stimulation is the use of fingernails or familiar objects to make noise.

The results showed that those watching the video stimulated the feeling of ASMR with an average heart rate reduction of 3.41 beats / minute. Meanwhile, heart rate is unchanged in people who don't watch ASMR videos.

Giulia Poerio researcher shared: "The average heart rate of people watching ASMR videos can be compared to other research results on the physiological effects of stress relief methods such as music or mindfulness meditation." .

Currently on YouTube, there are more than 13 million ASMR videos revolving around topics such as hair cutting, massage, whispering, eating, etc. Those who watch ASMR videos claim that ASMR helps them feel relaxed and have a good night. sleep better.

Conclusion of the study, the group of scientists believe that ASMR really has certain emotional and physiological benefits . The scientific basis from the above research also suggests many opportunities to develop new forms of therapy for the human brain and mental health in the future.
