Four large forest fires and dozens of small fires erupting in Sydney's western suburbs have forced thousands of people to evacuate. More than 1,000 firefighters with the help of 350 fire trucks and firefighting helicopters have been deployed to deal with "fire fires".

New South Wales Fire Protection Agency (RFS) said at least two houses and 1,800 hectares of forests in New South Wales were destroyed by fire. At least 7 RFS employees suffered minor burns and tile suffocation while attempting to fight fires.

RFS believes that there are abnormal phenomena when many small fires occur near each other. Currently Australian authorities are investigating the cause of forest fire. Meanwhile, Prime Minister of New South Wales Barry O'Farrell urged people to strengthen forest fire prevention measures, including clearing grass and clearing drainage ditches around living areas.

In addition, more than half of Australia's Queensland state is also placed on alert for the risk of forest fires.

This year, wildfires in New South Wales occurred three weeks earlier than usual, signaling a fierce 'wildfire' . The Australian Forest Fire Research Center said that rainfall over the past three years has made the grass grow in many parts of New South Wales.

In addition to the north-eastern coastal area that extends to the west, other areas of New South Wales have a high risk of forest fire above the average this summer.
