Hundreds of large and widespread wildfires are taking place in the southern states of Australia, causing headaches for fire officials .

Temperatures in southern Australia have decreased in recent days. However, in New South Wales state, more than 130 fires are still raging, including 30 unregulated fires.

Firefighters are trying to control a large fire in a location just 100km south of Canberra.

In Victoria, fire brigades are also trying to put out the fire. The temperature in this state has reached 54 degrees C.

On Monday, Australia's average temperature reached 40.33 degrees Celsius, an unprecedented record. Strong winds and high temperatures increase the risk of widespread forest fires.
