According to Mr. Dung, this is not the first time Hai Van forest has been burnt. Due to the rugged terrain, more than an hour after detecting the sound of bombs exploding with the fire rising from the middle of the hill, the forest rangers could approach the burnt area. Seeing too high a fire, unable to control it, Lien Chieu rangers reported to the city for help.

Nearly 1,000 firefighters, military, air force and district personnel and dozens of fire trucks were dispatched to the scene. This force used saws, glaciers and water from small holes on the hill to put out the fire. During the fire, nearly 10 shells and phosphorous bombs exploded and glowed.

" The cause of fire is sunshine which causes bombs and phosphorescence . Previously, this forest area was an American airport so there were still many bombs ," Dung said.

Currently nearly 200 rangers and military personnel are still on duty at the scene, ready to rescue in case of a fire outbreak.
