Australia uses satellite information to track fires

According to a reporter in Sydney, on July 24, Australia has officially launched a national fire monitoring website (My Fire Watch) using satellite information to capture the situation of fires and weather .

"My Fire Watch" was opened in Kimberley of Western Australia, a partnership between the State Government and Edith Cowan University in Perth (ECU).

Specialist Danielle Brady of ECU said the site will provide information on fires, thunder, burnt areas and some other information such as weather in the area . over a period of several days around lookup time. This address has been upgraded and easier to access than the address used by the relevant authorities.

To achieve this success, Australian authorities and experts spent three years studying in Kununurra, a town in northwestern Australia, to determine the need for information.

The information on the website is updated whenever a satellite passes through (currently about twice a day).

Experts hope the number of satellites going through Australia will increase in the next few years and the site will be updated more frequently.
