Dramatic matches are at risk of heart attack

The heart of the viewer can more than double in the climax moments of the match.

Canadian scientists found dramatic moments in a sports match that could make viewers' heart rates more than double, threatening health, Telegraph reported on October 5.

The team used a heart rate monitor to monitor audiences watching ice hockey matches on the TV and directly at the yard. People watching through TV have an average heart rate increase of 75% while direct viewers increase by 110%.

Scientists believe that people at risk of cardiovascular disease should be warned about possible symptoms of danger when watching the competition.

"We found that the main factor determining heart rate was not the outcome of the match, but the excitement of the viewers in the moments of thrill , " said Professor Paul Khairy at the Heart Institute Montreal.

Before conducting the test, participants were asked to fill out a general health questionnaire and describe their level of affection for the upcoming team. The results showed that the level of interest does not affect the changes in heart rate much.

The risk of cardiovascular problems is especially high for those who watch live on the pitch and during critical moments like injury time or extra time."People at high risk should be warned about cardiovascular symptoms and instructions on how to seek timely medical care , " the research team suggested.

A previous study showed that the number of strokes and heart attacks in the Netherlands increased sharply on the day the country was eliminated from the European football championship in 1996.
