Earthquake magnifies 6.2 Richter off Mexico
On the night of January 21, a magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck the sea off the coast of southern Mexico. There have been no reports of casualties, damage or tsunami warnings issued.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake's epicenter was about 57km southwest of the small city of Mapastepech in the southwest of Chiapas state and 66km deep. In Guatemala and the capital of El Salvador, El Salvador can also feel these geological vibrations.
With most of the area located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, Mexico has often suffered from strong earthquakes in recent years. In December 2011, a magnitude 6.7 earthquake also rocked the southern state of Guerrero, causing many casualties.
In 1985, the magnitude 8.1 earthquake in Mexico City also killed more than 10,000 people and destroyed part of the city.
So far, many people in the capital still live in fear of this situation repeating.
