Earthquake with tsunami in Chile, 5 people died
The TBD Tsunami Warning Center said that near 8am on September 17 (Hanoi time), the Coquimbo region in Chile saw 5m high waves. At least 5 people died, 1 million people had to go to shelter.

According to President Bachelet, the earthquake caused insignificant damage compared to the February 2010 tragedy. CNN reported that Chilean police confirmed women were killed and seven others were injured, including three seriously injured in Illapel, which is located near the epicenter. Chilean authorities also affirmed Tongoy, south of La Serena, the first place hit by a tsunami. The incident happened at 20:30 local time.
