Dr. Tran Thi Kim Dung, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said that Fasciola Hepatica (FH) may cause cirrhosis for people with it.

FH fluke lives in bile ducts of herbivores like buffaloes and cows. Tapioca eggs are distributed outside, clinging to aquatic plants that grow under water, including spinach. People who eat these vegetables if they do not cook well will become infected.

When entered into the human body, fluke eggs develop and cause mild abdominal pain and diarrhea and allergy symptoms. Dangerous only really until the fluke is 3 months old. It attacks the gallbladder, causing chronic gallbladder disease, liver rupture, cirrhosis, liver failure .

FH infection symptoms are not clear, so it is easy to confuse many other diseases. Dr. Kim Dung said, there are people who are misdiagnosed as liver cancer, stomach pain, and cost a lot of money for treatment but not cured. Even a patient who has been cured for a long time does not recover from illness, and his health has deteriorated so badly that the hospital offered to lose, to go home and wait for death.

However, even if the disease is properly detected and cured, FH fluke also leaves severe sequelae. Therefore, it is best to prevent fluke infection by not eating raw spinach.
