This port site is found in the Wadi el-Jarf area, about 180km south of the Suez coastal city. The Red Sea Port was once a receiving place for copper from the Sinai peninsula to transport to the Nile valley.

Besides, the archaeological group in the Suez region also discovered a number of papyrus scrolls from the Pharaoh Kheops period, written in hieroglyphs, depicting the daily lives of port workers. These texts will be transferred to the Suez Museum.

Pharaoh Kheops reigned 27 years in the fourth dynasty of the ancient Egyptian kingdom. This king was the one who built the Great Pyramid, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, now a famous archaeological and tourist site in Egypt.
