Egypt discovered an ancient stone church of nearly 4,000 years old

A group of archaeologists from the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities and Heritage has discovered a stone church dating back to 4,000 years ago in Sohag province, in Upper Egypt.

According to the head of the ancient antiquities department of Ali El-Asfar Egyptian Antiquities and Heritage, the work was built under Mentuhotep II, the sixth Pharaoh of the 11th reign of Egypt since 2045. - 1995 BC.

Excavation work was carried out after tourist police caught some local people conducting illegal digging to search for antiques.

The initial study of hieroglyphics engraved on the walls of the monument shows that this stone work was built by Mentuhotep II to worship Osiris who ruled Hell and Sohag's god Khenti. -Amenty.

Currently, scientists are working on restoring this relic because some of the plates were damaged by groundwater.

Minister El-Damaty said this was a very important finding, helping to better understand the history of Pharaoh Mentuhotep II. According to Mr. El-Damaty, the Mentuhotep II monuments were rarely seen in the holy city of Abydos, although earlier this Pharaoh had built many religious works here to strengthen power by showing my portrait is like the god Khenti-Amenty.
