Egypt excavated 3 ancient 2,000-year-old tombs containing many stone coffins

Egyptian archaeologists discovered three graves containing many stone coffins, dating back about 2,000 years, at a cemetery in the south of the country.

AFP quoted an announcement by the Egyptian Ministry of Stocks that tombs excavated in the Al-Kamin al-Sahrawi area belong to Minya province in the southern capital of Cairo. Three graves are located in a cemetery built during the period between the 27th dynasty of ancient Egypt and the ancient Greek-Roman period.

According to Ayman Ashmawy, head of the Egyptian antiquities department of the Antiquities Department, the team of archaeologists has found "a collection of coffins made of stones of different shapes and sizes, as well as those clay debris ".

One of the graves contains four stone coffins , each with a human face. Another grave contains the remains of two stone coffins and six burial sites, including a grave to "bury a small child".

The pieces of clay found at the site "show the tombs formed during the period of the 27th Dynasty (founded in 525 BC) and the Greek-Roman period (from in 332 BC to the 4th century) " , the statement stated.

In one of the three graves, excavators have found many pieces of bone believed to be the remains of "men, women and children of different ages" .
