Elon Musk paid $5,000 to be forgiven after a 19-year-old hacker created a Twitter account to track his private jet's flight path.

For celebrities, dealing with stalkers is not uncommon, and is even considered an everyday occurrence. Elon Musk is no exception, as a 19-year-old named Jack Sweeney created a Twitter account called "Elon Musk's Jet " to track the movements of his private jet.

According to Protocol, this Twitter account provided such accurate information that Elon Musk contacted Jack and offered him $5,000 to leave him alone .

The hacker created a separate Twitter account to track Elon Musk's flight paths.

Speaking to Protocol, Jack revealed he received a proposition from the Tesla CEO in the fall of 2021: " Can you disable this account? This is a security risk! " Jack responded defiantly: " Okay, but it would probably cost me a Model 3. " Elon Musk became enraged and sent a rather harsh message back: " Don't even think about messing with me, you bastard ."

After some back-and-forth, the world's richest billionaire decided to make the offer of $5,000 as mentioned above. However, Jack was still not satisfied and wanted ten times that amount: " Can you raise the price to $50,000, uncle? That money would help me a lot with my college tuition, and maybe even buy me a car, maybe even a Model 3. "

It seems the $5000 price tag wasn't enough to satisfy Jack.

The most recent update, on January 27th, showed Elon's plane had landed in Austin, Texas, USA, and it appears the two sides have yet to agree on a price to disable the Twitter account.

Elon Musk said he would think about it, but he hasn't contacted Jack since.

According to a Twitter post, Jack had been continuously tracking Elon Musk's private jet, N628TS, since June 2020 using a bot that utilized publicly available ADS-B data. He also stated that he only tracked the aircraft itself and wasn't sure who was on board. After hearing the cunning young man explain in more detail how Elon Musk's jet works, the billionaire remarked: " Air traffic control is still very rudimentary ."

Recently, Protocol revealed that last Wednesday (January 19th), Jack proactively messaged Elon to discuss the Twitter account. He stated that he wanted to intern at one of Elon's companies (most likely Tesla) instead of receiving cash, but had not yet received an official response.
