In a recent interview with Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Insider Axel Springer, Elon Musk suggested that humans can upload their memories and personalities to Optimus - a robot being developed by Tesla.
Elon Musk.
This billionaire constantly shares about the potential future applications of Optimus.
The Tesla CEO said: 'Optimus was designed with the original role of performing repetitive, boring or dangerous jobs. It's basically the kind of work people don't want to do."
Elon Musk said he thinks maybe one day people can upload their brain power to Optimus.
"We can load the robot with the most distinctive personality of a person. Of course, if someone no longer exists in the world, this robot will take care of preserving their memory. I think we completely can do it," the South African-born billionaire affirmed.
Mr. Musk added: 'Humanity has designed and optimized every object to interact with the shape of two legs, two arms and ten fingers. So if you want a robot that fits and can do things that humans can do, it has to be about the same size and shape."
Mr. Musk said that Tesla has a fairly complete prototype product that can be launched later this year and begin production on a moderate scale in 2023. The Optimus robot was first introduced during the AI Day event taking place. on August 19, 2021. In January of this year, the South African-born billionaire called the project "the most important development we are working on this year".
According to Elon Musk's description, the Tesla Bot is about 172cm tall, weighs 56kg, is made of lightweight materials, can travel at a maximum speed of 8km/h, carries 20kg of goods, and lifts 68kg objects. The robot's head integrates the camera used in Tesla electric vehicles, allowing it to sense its surroundings and a screen to display information.
Basically, this robot is operated by the same AI system on Tesla's electric vehicles. Mr Musk said the robot was designed to be "friendly and navigable in a world built for humans" and to fill the void left by labor shortages.
In addition to Optimus, Musk also talked about a variety of other topics during the interview. He shared his thoughts on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, saying "We cannot let Putin take over Ukraine".
