EMIEW 2 - Multipurpose Robot

Hitachi (Japan) has launched a new robot called EMIEW 2. It is the first robot in the world to combine two-legged and wheeled vehicles.

EMIEW 2 80 cm high, weighs only 13 kg. This is a symbiotic robot that can do support tasks, serve people as well as can be used as receptionist, tour guide combined with the task of security guard or can bring papers, drinking water served human.

EMIEW 2 can be moved on two legs or converted to wheel travel with different modes to suit the requirements and speed of movement. With front mounted laser sensors and infrared sensors attached to the bottom, the EMIEW 2 is capable of locating in complex environments as well as avoiding obstructions.

Hitachi is one of the Japanese companies that are trying to research and manufacture human robots to make up for the country's future shortage of human resources.
