Error of denial of service attack security with Opera 9.0
Three days after it was officially released on June 21 , a security bug in Opera 9 was considered serious and exploitable. Users need to update the temporary patch.
This error comes from the application's memory management section when it processes an HTML document with malicious code. If the HREF (Hypertext REFefence) tag is designed to exceed a length, attackers can take advantage to create a denial of service (DoS - Denial of Service) status. During the time, users download an HTML document including a malicious HREF tag, the browser will be completely stalled. Opera 9.0 is the only version affected by this error.
When Opera 9.0 browser is still in the test version, another security error has been published regarding buffer overflow.
