9-year-old Mohammad Ponari was struck by lightning while sitting in front of his house in Balongsari village in January. He fell to the ground, but then sat up like no lightning. Then Ponari picked up a big egg-shaped stone near him where he fell and said that it was able to cure all diseases.

According to people, Ponari's first patient was a feverish child near his home. Ponari put the stone in a glass of water and told the child to drink. After a while the baby's body temperature dropped and the fever disappeared.

A 30-year-old woman with depression for more than 10 years reached Ponari. She drank the water that Ponari dipped in the stone and recovered. Village chief Nila Retno also visited Ponari. She said: 'My arm has a sprain. He dipped the stone in a bowl of water and handed it to me. After applying the water in the bowl to my hand, I felt the pain and my hand no longer swollen.

Sutikno, the head of the district police, said he had witnessed Ponari curing a dumb boy for five years in the village of Balongsari, East Java. He said: 'Ponari shook the mute boy. Suddenly he got up and grabbed Ponari's hair. They fought and wrestled for a while, then the dumb boy said it. '

The rumors are far away. Hundreds of villagers pulled to Ponari's house to ask him to heal. Just within half a month since he was struck by lightning, the story of a panacea came to Malaysia. Thousands of people lined up at Ponari's door every day. They brought a bag of water to Ponari to dip the stone. Sometimes people are several kilometers long.

Muhammad Indra, a local police officer, said: 'They have to queue for many hours because there are too many people. Most people who go to Ponari suffer from respiratory diseases'.

Landscape jostling, pushing often happen. Four patients died and several dozen were injured during the stampede in mid-February. Disarray made local clergy worried. They asked the government to intervene to stop Ponari from healing. Police have taken Ponari to a secret place, but thousands of people still flock to the 'witch doctor' every day. Many confirmed that they would continue to Balongsari village until the 'witch healer' returned.

Since Ponari found the stone, about 50,000 people have come to his house. Modern medical services charge too high compared to the income of millions of people on Indonesia's Java island, forcing them to go to healers every time they get sick.

As of the beginning of March, about 1 billion rupiah (nearly 77,000 USD) was released into the trunk in front of Ponari's door. According to Islam's rules, Ponari was not allowed to receive patients' money because his healing ability was a gift given by the gods. Retno village leader said that Ponari often complained to her that he had pain all over his body.

'He feels like someone whipped with a whip. It also has fever and vomiting. Is it a god's punishment for its money-taking behavior? ' Said Retno.
