Experiment with special folding tents for use on the moon

A folding tent designed by the US Space Agency for use on the moon is being packed and sent to Antarctica, starting a 13-month trial.

Of course Antarctica is not the moon, but McMurdo Station, where the tent is sent, has the most similarities with the moon, without having to take it to extraterrestrial testing. Since every kilogram brought to the moon will need 125 kilograms of fuel and equipment to get it there, NASA needs to lighten the tent as much as possible for the astronauts' homes.

They are expected to return to the lunar surface by 2020 - the first flight since the Apollo program ended in 1972.

McMurdo station has been in operation for over 50 years, can provide accommodation for 1,000 people in the summer, including 1 port, 1 airport and helicopter as well as other electronic and radio systems.
