The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) plans to spend up to $ 1 billion on a biometric data bank project to provide the Government with methods to identify people both at home and abroad.
The FBI has been collecting data on faces, fingerprints and palms into the system. In January, regulatory authorities violating federal laws, espionage and terrorism introduced a 10-year contract to expand the quality and quantity of collected biological information. The FBI will store the fingerprints of employees with criminal records on demand.
According to the Washington Post, if successful, this future Generation Identification system will store biometric information for identification and forensic purposes.
