Find boiling water in the middle of the cold Arctic

Deep in the Arctic Circle, scientists have discovered columns of hot liquid spraying on the sea floor at twice the boiling temperature of water.

This hot-water 5-hole beam, called black chimneys, is found farther north than any previously identified hot water hole. One of them is as tall as a 4-storey building. They are located between Greenland and Norway.

Black chimneys were found in many places in the deep sea. Despite the lack of light to provide energy for life, these pits still provide an environment for unique organisms to live on their heat and chemicals. Some scientists argue that heat chimneys are the main place for the original life of the earth.

These heat holes are created when the sea floor is stretched.
