UK researchers have unveiled a prototype of a new helmet, using a vibration mechanism to help firefighters navigate the roads in dense smoke and dark shadows.

As a University of Sheffield invention, the helmet is based on mouse beard sensibility as an early warning system against potential hazards.
The device is equipped with a large volume ultrasonic sensor, which easily detects the distance between the person wearing the hat and the nearest obstacle, including the wall.
When obstacles are identified, sensors send signals to the vibrating plates mounted inside the helmet.
In other words, firefighters are more likely to be near obstacles, and the helmets will shake more aggressively to signal danger in front, according to Counsel & Heal.
The scientists gave Rosenbauer a prototype helmet, which provided equipment and accessories for fire protection.
