Three humpback whales are engrossed in eating small herds of anchovies when the sea lion comes in from under the water. Humpback whales feed by opening, swallowing and filtering nearly 1,900 liters of fish-filled water each time they close their mouths. The swift sea lion nicknamed Jonah was lucky to escape in time when the distance between the whales was as wide as a watermelon.

The spectacular death of the sea lion was recorded on July 22 by Chase Dekker. Chase shared that he had never seen such a sea lion being swallowed by whales before.

"Normally, when whales rush into a fish in the water, they always close their mouths almost immediately to keep food while sinking. Humpback whales rarely kill large prey like seals by them. usually only eat small fish, " Chase explained.
