Food for Hanoi children with lead poisoning

The survey results of the Institute of Nutrition on children's diets in Hanoi show that there are lead and heavy metals pollution.

The National Institute of Nutrition investigated the diet of children aged 24-36 months in four urban districts of Hanoi (Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Dong Da and Hai Ba Trung). In this age group, there are 12 types of foods that are frequently used: rice, milk, oranges, lean pork, chicken eggs, chicken, beef, prawn and spinach .

Analysis results show that lead pollution is highest in water spinach and pork (5/8 lead-contaminated samples), then rice (5/12 samples). Prawns, oranges and tangerines have a quarter of samples that exceed the permitted standards for lead content.

Regarding heavy metal targets of cadmium, the food that exceeds the Ministry of Health 's maximum allowable regulations is rice (3/12 samples), pork 2/8 samples, 2/4 beef samples. With arsenic alone , no food exceeds the standard.

Cadmium poisoning destroys bone calcium, causes bone growth retardation, causes rickets, even causes cancer. paralysis, lung cancer and breast cancer.
