The butterfly has a bright yellow color with soft patterns on the wings. It was discovered at Vinh's mother-in-law's house in Me Pu commune, Duc Linh district, Binh Thuan province, on a bonsai.

According to biodiversity researcher Phung My Trung, this is a starfish species, with the scientific name Attacus atlas. They are the largest moths in Vietnam and in the world.

Butterfly butterflies are distributed throughout the mountainous regions and plains of Vietnam and are sometimes seen on the outskirts of major cities. The wingspan of an adult starter butterfly can reach 25-30 cm.

This giant butterfly is increasingly rare due to the changing environment, widespread spraying of pesticides as well as the hunt for collectors. In the Vietnam Red Book, butterflies are classified as threatening R levels (rare in nature).
