According to AFP, European and American scientists have for the first time demonstrated that two small pieces of genetic code, called nucleus (nucleobases), in the Murchison meteorite are actually out of Earth.
This conclusion differs from previous studies suggesting that meteorite fragments (about 100kg in total), falling near Murchison, Victoria state (Australia), on September 28, 1969 may be contaminated when colliding with Earth .
According to Dr. Zita Martins, a researcher at the Royal London Institute, the two molecules identified by the study, named uracil and xanthine, were present in our human DNA and RNA. RNA, ie ribonucleic acid, is the main part of the genetic code that forms the human body.

Previous assumptions suggested that the kernel might have been synthesized near the Earth, but Dr. Martins said that the early Earth's climatic conditions did not make this synthesis possible.
The research team demonstrated that two types of molecules in Australia's Murchison meteorite contain a heavy form of carbon - 13 carbon - which can only form in space.
