According to the Mirror, archaeologists found the great Mayan palace more than 1,000 years ago in the ancient city of Kuluba . The palace was used by high-ranking Mayans.

 

Based on what's left, archaeologists estimate the work to be 6 meters high, 55 meters long and 15 meters wide. The Mayan civilization reached its peak during the period of 250-900, controlling vast areas, stretching from southern Mexico, Guatemala, Beluze to Honduras.

The newly discovered palace is located east of the Kuluba archaeological site, one of the historically important sites in Yucatan state.'The excavation process is only at an early stage. We are just beginning to dig, revealing the massive structure , ' archaeologist Alfredo Barrera said.

Besides the palace, Mexican experts also discovered four other buildings in the area called 'Group C' in the center of Kuluba Square, including an altar, remnants of two residential buildings and a structure. The round structure is like a kitchen.

Conservationists are exploring reforestation areas in Kuluba to protect the historic site from wind and sun damage. After excavation is completed, the area will be open to the public.
