New fuel from water and air
The Audi car maker is researching and creating a new fuel that can be used in internal combustion engines . Audi says the new fuel is e-diesel, which is completely different from conventional fuels because it is made entirely of water and CO2.
The first factory of e-diesel testing company has started operation in Germany. Audi's technology uses pure energy from the sun and wind to produce hydrogen from water . Then, the hydrogen is mixed with the CO 2 gas that has been converted to CO. After a chemical and synthetic reaction produces a blue liquid called a raw fuel, this is the liquid hydrocarbon chain. Which then it is used to refine the final product is e-diesel oil.
According to Audi, the overall efficiency of renewable energy generation is about 70% . According to Sunfire, the e-diesel engine runs smoother and less polluting. It can also be mixed with traditional diesel to boost performance.
Currently Audi's factory is producing 160L e-diesel every day. The company said it would continue to expand production with a larger plant in the future. Audi said that if it receives an order, the company will begin to commercialize the technology.
Although the new e-diesel is made from air and water, the ingredients are available in nature. However, the technology and machinery used to make this new type of oil is very expensive, making the cost of e-diesel higher than traditional fuels. However, this new fuel will contribute greatly to environmental protection, due to the large amount of CO2 used to make the fuel.
