Germany successfully researched explosion-proof batteries
Experts from Fraunhofer Research Institute (Germany) have successfully developed a completely new explosion-proof lithium-ion battery.
' We have succeeded in replacing flammable organic electrolytes in existing lithium-ion battery products with a new non-flammable synthetic substance ,' said Kai-Christian Möller professor. ' This is a solid so it will not be able to leak out like the substance currently used. I am confident this solution will help enhance the safety of lithium ion batteries ' products.
Currently, the research specialists have successfully produced the above type of battery explosion proof application. However, it is expected that it will take 3 to 5 years for this battery to reach ordinary consumers.
The reason for this delay is because the researchers want to invest more effort to enhance the capacity of storage and efficiency of the battery's power supply. Professor Möller said that these improvements are currently being used on test battery models. The power source contained in this battery product is completely comparable to the lead battery used in cars.
The above technology will be a solution to prevent a 'battery recovery' similar to what happened in 2006 in the future. The problem of recovering batteries in 2006 has caused a series of big companies such as Dell, Toshiba, Apple . within a few months had to recall millions of potential fire hazard batteries manufactured by Sony after many cases. Flowing notebooks occur throughout the world.
