Giant mushrooms

A giant mushroom weighing over 20 kg has been found in a forest in the Mexican state of Chiapas. It is reported that the fungus lives for thousands of years.

According to scientists at the University of Southern Border, they found this white mushroom near Tapachula, near the border with Guatemala. 70 cm tall mushroom, with scientific name macrocybe titans.

Specialist in mushroom collection at Southern Border University, Rene Andrade, said the mushroom will be included in the school's collection of 5,000 different mushroom samples. He confirmed that this fungus was once discovered in the state of Chiapas. However, compared to the two mushrooms found earlier, this mushroom is larger and heavier.

According to the report of University of Southern Border, this fungus also occurs in Guatemala, Costa Rica and Brazil. It is not known exactly whether the fungus can be eaten.

Meanwhile, Telegraph reported in October 2005, a resident of Kansas City (Missouri) said he found a mushroom weighing more than 25 kg.
