Girl with allergies to water

Teenager Ashleigh Morris can't go swimming, take a hot bath or swim after a stressful day of work, she is allergic to water. Even sweat made the 19-year-old girl suffer from rash.

Ashleigh, from Melbourne, Australia, is allergic to water at all temperatures. She had this condition since she was 14 years old. It is a particularly rare skin disorder called Aquagenic Urticaria. There are only a few cases in the world.

Every time Ashleigh's body gets rash, it takes 2 hours for the new red spots to disappear. She was forced to bathe. But pouring water on her body was painful, so she could only do it for a minute. Bathing is the only time Ashleigh comes into contact with water."People can't believe this, they will ask: 'Oh how did you bathe?'. They feel I have to be dirty, but I feel like I'm clean," Ashleigh said.

Most of us considered bathing to be obvious, but to Ashleigh it was the pain that made her shed tears."The itching looks so ugly, it makes me look sick, but its feeling is much worse. I can't go after 2 hours because it's very annoying. There are times itching I scratched all the blood. "

In addition to allergy to water, Ashleigh is a completely healthy girl. She has a busy life with studying at the Faculty of Journalism and community relations at the university and also working in an office.

Ashleigh took a long time to explain his situation to doctors because very few people knew about this situation. She became ill five years ago, after suffering from severe tonsillitis. She had to take a lot of penicillin to get rid of the disease but it caused another problem.

"I suddenly had a rash after bathing or swimming." At that time Ashleigh often went swimming and went to the sea very often. "I tried to ignore it but the worse it made me go to the doctor."

Professor Rodney Sinclair, who treated Ashleigh, said penicillin itself altered histamine levels in her body and caused Aquagenic Urticaria disease. There is no effective treatment for the disease.

"I could not believe this but realized its severity. I cried for hours, but eventually had to accept the truth."

Ashleigh figured out how to avoid water. She didn't play sports or do heavy things that made her sweat. She was always in places with air conditioning and carrying umbrellas in the car. Her family and boyfriend, Adam, 23, also supported her. But this situation makes the close moments of 2 people difficult."I can't be near him if he sweats," Ashleigh said.

The number of cases like her in the world is very rare and no one understands what the mechanism of disease is like.
