Dr. Tim Mainardi says this is a common allergy, a type of physical urticaria. This type of allergy is caused by the loss of histamine antibodies by the body. Histamine is produced from a protein, in cold weather they often do not appear to cause injury to the body. For treatment, doctors recommend antihistamines.
