GPhone is again confirmed
Technology news website Digitimes cited a number of sources from Taiwan's device makers, insisting that Google is in the process of researching GPhone production - its own branded handset.
Google has not yet completed the technical specifications, operating systems, equipment manufacturing contracts and choice of network service providers.
Previous media reports suggest that Google will use Texas Instruments' EDGE network technology solution for GPhone, but according to Taiwanese manufacturers, Google is considering switching to technology integration. 3G directly for GPhone. This means that Google may switch to Qualcomm's technology solution.
However, the switch to 3G platform application may cause Google to back down its launch plan for the first half of next year instead of the end of this year because it still needs to apply for a license to use the corresponding technology.
In addition, Google will also develop a completely new mobile operating system for its devices and also compete with Windows Mobile and Symbian platforms.
Taiwanese producers say High Tech Computer (HTC) will be chosen as the GPhone manufacturer.
