Great storms in France and America

The storm caused severe flooding and mud flooding in southwestern France. A similar situation occurs in many residential areas in Texas, USA. Natural disasters have killed at least five people in the US and one in France.

According to preliminary records of the French government, natural disasters have caused at least one person to die. The victim is an elderly woman living in an isolated house in a village in Pardies-Piétat, Pyrénées-Atlantiques province. The French meteorological agency has issued an orange warning mode due to the forecast of violent storms that may occur over the next few days in the northeastern region of the country. People in areas of disaster risk are recommended to limit traffic due to limited visibility.

On weekends, rescuers have carried out more than 1,000 flood rescue interventions and re-established electricity in Paris and southwestern France. In addition, more than 500 people in the valley of Ossau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) were evacuated by plane to the ground after a mud flood. According to local people, this is the first time they have seen this disaster phenomenon happen in this area.

On the same day, fields in Texas also suffered from severe thunderstorms that killed at least five people and engulfed many motor vehicles. According to meteorological forecasting agencies, bad weather will continue in this area during the weekends. Local authorities have deployed the National Guard in the residential areas of Waco, Austin and San Antonio to combat natural disasters .
