Guess the sex of the fetus through the mother's diet?

Based on the mother's diet, can the sex of the child be predicted in the future?

Scientists from the University of Delft and Maastricht (Netherlands) studied this problem within 5 years. The results of their research published in the online Journal of Obstetrics may be a catalyst for the new debate: Will pre-pregnancy women's diet affect the gender of child or not?

First, Dutch scientists studied the eating habits of 172 women who had children. Next, they carefully studied 32 couples who planned to give birth to a baby. Mothers adhere to a special diet: lots of fruits, vegetables and rice, ie products that contain a large amount of calcium and magnesium.

According to Dutch experts, increasing the amount of these substances in women 's blood also increases the chances of having a girl. Under the influence of these substances, female egg cells become sensitive to XX chromosomes, " coding " the birth of girls. As a result, the couples involved in the experiment gave birth to 26 girls and only six pairs gave birth to boys.

According to scientists, potassium-rich foods like potatoes, for example, increase the probability of having a son. These foods make it easier for female eggs to receive XY chromosomes, which have a ' responsibility ' to create a strong baby .

According to Dutch researchers, the prospective father's eating does not affect the sex of the upcoming child.

However, Margarit Anshina, director of the Russian Center for Reproduction and Genetics, said the sex of the child is unpredictable . Gender is a pure genetic problem, a game of chromosomes. This is a probabilistic thing. How the chromosomes are linked together will be the child. This is not the reaction of bacteria to antibodies, but a completely different mechanism, the genetic level interaction.

According to Ms. Anshina, there is currently only one way to choose the gender of the child. That method of fertilization, like in vitro fertilization.

Usually, this fertilization is done in the case of infertile couples. It is possible to choose a sex embryo and transplant it into the mother's womb. This is an embryo that has a definite gender. Then there will actually be a probability of a hundred percent birth of a boy or a girl, depending on whether the embryo is implanted in a woman's uterus.

In addition, there is no other way to predict the sex of the child. There is no diet that can affect the sex of the child.

The debate about whether pre-pregnant women's diets affect the sex of the fetus has been carried out for many years, it is still early to draw conclusions.
