He closed the research station in Antarctica because the ice surface broke
Researchers are working at the UK's Halley (BAS) survey station in Antarctica, which is preparing to evacuate by detecting a cracked surface in the Brunt Ice Shelf.

Halley research station will be moved to a location 23km from the old area.
The crack has not caused any danger to the research station, but officials recommend that everyone living in it will have to move quickly. Cracks occur 17 km from the research station.
Expected relocation will be completed in March 2017. The station management also hopes these scientists can return to Antarctica in the winter.
In a statement, the BAS said: "The change in the ice surface, especially when the crack is getting bigger and bigger, is a manifestation of a complex transformation of terrain, so scientists of BAS also cannot predict what will happen ".
Scientists have also issued a warning about a giant ice sheet up to 5,000 km 2 in size that will separate from the Antarctic ice shelf. The long-running crack on Larsen C suddenly had a significant expansion in December 2016.
