Japan plans to build a new research station in Antarctica

Japan is contemplating a plan to build a new research station in Antarctica, to serve research on the ice continent and to monitor the Earth's climate change phenomenon.

According to an official of the Japanese Ministry of Science and Technology, this project was launched during a government discussion last week. This is considered an important project and can start from 2016.

However, the plan has not been officially determined because it needs to be recognized under the Antarctic Treaty. The Japanese government also needs to study feasibility when building a new research station.

In Antarctica, Japanese experts collected air samples in the ice from 720,000 years ago, after drilling at a depth of 3,000m. With the new research station, they could drill deep and reach the ice formed a million years ago, AFP said.

Studying air bubbles in Antarctic ice sheets, formed thousands of years or even millions of years ago, can help experts understand the basic structure of the atmosphere. Time-line temperature analysis and CO2 conversion will help them better understand and predict future climate change.

Antarctica is a place of scientific research of many countries around the world, including the United States, Russia, Japan, European Union . The countries all agree to share scientific data and not build muscle. Military Department here.

Tokyo has 4 research stations on the ice continent, two of which are being used as Dome Syowa and Dome. Nearly 30 countries around the world have built research facilities in Antarctica.
