Ambitious to build space station flying around Mars

US aerospace company Lockheed Martin announced plans to build a space station flying around Mars, allowing people to fly to the planet in 2028.

According to the International Business Times, at the space conference "People to Mars" held in Washington, USA, on May 18, US aerospace company Lockheed Martin introduced the Mars Base Camp space station. designed to fly around Mars, similar to the International Space Station (ISS) but smaller.

The base included the crew's living and working place, two Orion (capsule) chambers containing the command and control center as well as a laboratory for 6 astronauts. The radiator is responsible for cooling sensitive electronics and housing. Solar panels provide energy for mechanical equipment. Propulsion and rocket engines use frozen fuel to create a great thrust, bringing the space station flying from the Moon's orbit to Mars.

"All the necessary parts of the space station exist today. We only make use of the available technologies , " said Tony Antonelli, a technology expert at Lockheed Martin.

Mars Base Camp is expected to fly in orbit from 10 to 11 months, helping astronauts explore the two moons of the planet, Phobos and Deimos with adventurous robots and unmanned aircraft. Scientists can conduct more research on Mars without landing on the surface. The signal transmitted from Mars to Earth takes about 20 minutes.

"We think it is necessary to fly around the orbit of Mars, before taking people down to the surface , " Antonelli said.

Lockheed Martin is cooperating with the US Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to develop the Orion chamber containing astronauts. NASA worked independently to build the new heavy lift rocket (heavy lift rocket) , but they had no clear plans after the missile flew to orbit the Moon. Therefore, Lockheed Martin proposed to NASA to transform missiles into a space station flying around Mars.

The proposal was accepted by NASA. Orion's missile and enclosed chamber will be ready to participate in a 2018 space mission. The missile will take astronauts into deep space, fly over the Moon in 2023 and reach Mars orbit in 2028.

"We think that bringing scientists and labs to Mars orbit helps carry out more scientific experiments. The amount of knowledge gained in a few months will be on par with what humans achieved in 40. last year , " Antonelli said.
