How to make Windows boot faster
Many of you wonder why your computer has the same configuration as another computer that when you have to wait to wait that long. Starting your computer fast or slow in addition to depending on the hardware configuration of the machine, there are many auto-loading programs that you have registered when installing them. Indeed there are many ways to make your computer run faster at startup and below we introduce you to some important methods.
Reduce the load
A typical computer loads a lot of programs every time they start. Each icon in your system tray (the area near your computer's clock) shows applications that automatically run when you start your computer. There are also many other programs that can automatically run on computers that you can hardly recognize from the system tray. Each auto-loading application will slow down the computer, the more these applications the slower your computer will be. Most of them continue to run quietly and thus may suggest that they are stealing your computer resources.
Before starting to exclude auto-load programs, you must ensure that you can undo these changes. In Windows XP, select Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore . Select Create a restore point , click Next , call the restore point (Restore) to save the machine configuration before removing the auto load program, select Create . Click Close when the restore point has been created.
In Windows Vista, select Start > Control Panel > System . Under 'Tasks' on the right side of the window, click System Protection . In the System Properties box, click Create at the bottom of the window.
XP users should select Start > Run , enter msconfig and press. (In Vista , select Start > enter msconfig in the Search box and click.) Select the Startup tab, you will see a list of all auto-load programs, each with a check box. Uncheck this box and you won't have to load it on startup.
Choose auto load applications
Which applications should continue to automatically load? First and foremost are antivirus software, firewalls and other security programs. Obviously, these programs slow down your computer and they can cause conflicts, but the price you pay without them is even higher.
Many other programs on the list depend on your review. There is no need to wonder if 'Is it a good program?' but consider the issue 'does it need it all the time?' For example: I allow Copernic Desktop Search to automatically load because it needs to keep my data files constantly.
After unchecking the programs that are not needed to load automatically at boot time, click OK and restart the computer. Windows will load with a fairly long message at first glance you might think it is an error message. You just need to check the check box Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts at the bottom of the dialog box and click OK.
Clean Windows
If an auto-load program doesn't significantly speed up your system at startup, you should try some of the following tips:
Clean the Registry. Your Windows Registry is larger, the system will boot longer. My favorite Registry cleaner is ChemTable's $ 30 Reg Organizer, which can enable Registry editing and Windows maintenance tools. If you don't need a lot of such things, you can use ToniArts EasyCleaner.
Use less Font. Loading hundreds of system fonts takes time. If you have more than 500 fonts on your computer, you should remove it. Sue Fisher's free The Font Thing utility will help you reduce the size of the font size.
Add RAM. Faster hardware means your computer will also boot faster (along with everything else in the middle of booting and shutdown). This way is not cheap but is an effective way to improve your hardware performance.
