Huge whirlpool appears in the US
It is estimated that the attraction of this vortex is so strong that it can swallow a ship.
The United States has a giant swirl of water
American experts have recently discovered a whirlpool at Lake Texoma in Texas, USA. This is the largest reservoir in the United States, prevented by a 4.8km long dam called Denison.
According to US military observations and assessments, this whirlpool has a diameter of up to 2.4m. Although appearing strangely, the reason for the occurrence of whirlpools is extremely simple.
The assistant of the lake manager BJ Parkey said it was the withdrawal of water from the lake that caused this phenomenon. Simply put, this principle of whirlpool is like a small whirlpool that appears when you drain water from a sink.
After prolonged heavy rains, the lake level rises too high and reaches its maximum. At the beginning of this June, Texoma 's water level reached a record height of 197m above sea level, so the floodgate was opened at the bottom of the lake to allow water to drain into the river.
The water that flows downwards will form the shape of a dragon hose , with the water swirling diameter shrinking from top to bottom and may be larger depending on the amount of water released.
Texoma Lake is also an attractive tourist destination, receiving an average of 6 million annual visitors. To ensure safety for residents and visitors, boats have been banned from passing during this water discharge . There are many lifesaving buoys and signs posted around the lake to warn of the occurrence of whirlpools.
