This latest flood is the worst in the last half decade in Kashmir.

Flash floods and heavy rains attacked thousands of villages in Kashmir and Jammu states, engulfing about 350 villages.

Local authorities have mobilized troops and 22 helicopters and 4 aircraft to carry out rescue and relief work for the people.

Bad weather also caused phone contacts in many places to be cut off.

However, a notice from Pakistan said rain has begun to decline and stop in some areas.
