Implant SoC chips into human brain to treat disease

US scientists have found a way to transplant SoC control chips to the human brain to fight neurological diseases.

Like the science fiction film, ARM has partnered with the University of Washington's Center for Sensory Neurology (CSNE) to develop a chip-based control system (SoC) and implant it into the human brain.

Transplant chips on the brain will be used for two-dimensional brain computer interfaces, to solve neurological disorders or disorders. Specifically, diseases such as Parkinson, Alzheimer's or even paralysis.

"The long-term goal is to help those affected by neurological diseases, with advanced techniques. This will help the patient's body recover, feel and move again," ARM explained in a blog post.

SoC chips will play a very important role in decoding, digitizing, giving information of complex signals formed in the brain to control the body's functions. That is the key to solving many neurodegenerative diseases.

Of course, developing a chip into the brain is not an easy task. SoC will be very small, high performance and of course strong enough to solve the diseases that ARM and CSNE are targeting. ARM said, Cortex-M0 processor is the smallest chip today, will be an indispensable part of SoC.

This is not the first time that a human has a chip implant project. In October last year, Rryan Johnson, the founder of the US-based company, plans to transplant the chip into the brain to increase awareness, improve memory and other functions in healthy people with early capital. $ 100 million.

Therefore, analysts predict, in the future, people will improve the brain like upgrading components in computers.
