Accordingly, the Prime Minister assigned Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) to be the investor of VINASAT-2 project, appoint bidders and take responsibility for consultancy packages and procurement packages for satellite (including including related control station equipment, satellite insurance package, and satellite launch service package.

Previously, in July 2009, the Ministry of Information and Communications officially assigned VNPT to use the orbit for the VINASAT-2 satellite, which is one of three satellite orbits that the Radio Frequency Department Electricity registered successfully in 2008.

Initial information indicates that the investment of VINASAT-2 project is expected to be around US $ 290-350 million. The roadmap for implementing the VINASAT-2 project is divided into steps and will be completed in 2012.
