Indonesia again suffered two strong earthquakes
Two earthquakes occurred in the southern area of Sumba coast, just a few days after Indonesia suffered a tsunami earthquake.
Two earthquakes were recorded off Sumba Island, south of Indonesia at 7:59 am (6:59 pm Vietnam), according to the US Geological Survey.
Sumba Island is considered the mysterious jewel of Indonesia.
The magnitude 5.9 earthquake occurred in the area about 40km from Sumba Island. The island is home to 750,000 people. 15 minutes later, another 6.0 magnitude earthquake appeared in the same area, at a depth of about 30km.
There are no tsunami warnings and damage statistics after these two earthquakes. Sumba Island is located about 1,600km south of Sulawesi.
The powerful earthquake of 7.5 on September 28 triggered tsunamis as high as 6 meters in Sulawesi, killing at least 1,200 people. Palu city and Donggala village are the places most affected by the tsunami.
The Indonesian government does not rule out the possibility that the death toll is still rising because many victims are buried in rubble or washed away with their homes.
