Indonesia built a tsunami warning system

Yesterday April 11, Indonesia began installing the first tsunami warning system in the Indian Ocean. Indonesian officials said, with this buoy system, people will be alerted to the unexpectedly dangerous waves.

The Indonesian government began setting up a lifeboat system to alert tsunamis after a sudden tsunami hit Asia in 2004. During this tsunami, many people in areas around the Indian Ocean were killed, at least 230,000 people died and disappeared. Tsunamis also cause many houses and villages to be completely destroyed. Statistics show that two-thirds of those killed in the 2004 tsunami are residents of northern Indonesia's Sumatra island.

Among the alarm buoys installed this time, one was made in Germany and the other was a gift from the Malaysian government and people.

Ridwan Djamaluddin, a tsunami official, said the $ 600,000 Indonesian-made tsunami rescue device could alert up to 260 km from North Java. Merak province will be installed in the near future.

This system is still in the process of actual testing. In the near future, the system will be installed to alert the risk of tsunamis in the islands of Java and Sumatra.
