Indonesia: Floods and landslides, 52 people were killed

Heavy rains caused flooding and landslides that buried hundreds of houses and more than 50 people in central Indonesia. Rescue workers are currently working hard to bring relief goods to affected areas.

Rustam Pakaya, crisis center director of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, said rescue workers had found seven bodies, and at least 45 people were still buried after landslides occurred on July 22. on Sulawesi.

'We believe all of them are dead,' he said, adding that roads flooded with floodwaters prevented efforts to bring rice, instant noodles, blankets, medicines and necessities it is necessary for 16,000 people to be evacuated from their homes.

Every year, heavy rains cause dozens of landslides and flash floods in Indonesia, affecting millions of people living in mountainous areas and fertile delta plains located near large rivers.

Last year alone in Sulawesi, more than 200 people were killed by floods.
